In ICC World Cup 1983, 8 teams participated which were grouped into two groups of 4 team each - Group A & Group B.

From Group A, England and Pakistan where as India and West Indies from Group B qualified for the semi-finals. India beat England by six wickets in the first semi-final and West Indies won the second semi-final against Pakistan by 8 wickets to enter the final of 1983 World Cup. India won the final at Lords by 43 runs to lift the title.
