Mumbai, April 20 (IANS) Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma was fined Rs.12 lakh on Monday for his team's slow over rate during Sunday's Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Bengaluru.

MI beat RCB by 18 runs to clinch their first victory of the tournament, following four consecutive defeats.

According to an IPL release, considering it was his first offence of the season under the tournament's code of conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Rohit was fined the amount.

The 2013 IPL champions are currently seventh in the points table, with one win from four games. They next play Delhi Daredevils in New Delhi on April 23.
