"I am excited to play for Mumbai FC. I have heard a lot about the city and I know that the city is very passionate about football," he said in a release Tuesday.

"The coach is building a very good squad. Also, I am aware that the club will be playing at it's home ground after a four-year hiatus which will really have a positive impact on our performances. It is a great opportunity and I'm looking forward to having a fantastic season here."

Mumbai FC coach Khalid Jamil also expressed his happiness at bagging the experienced player.

“He is a very important signing for us. Chika is a player with the character and dedication to do extremely well. He brings his powerful physique and athleticism to the game and is very strong in the air - a must for a central defender,” he said.
