Rabat, Oct 11 (IANS) The Moroccan government has urged the African Football Confederation (CAF) to postpone the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations because of the Ebola epidemic, a government statement said.

The 2015 Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled for Jan 17-Feb 8.

Morocco's health ministry asked the government to "to avoid events which involve those countries affected by the Ebola virus", Xinhua reported citing the statement issued Friday night.

Ebola has claimed lives of nearly 4,000 people, mostly in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, since its outbreak earlier this year.
