Mumbai Indians, despite beating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 42 runs, have bowed out of IPL 2021 on Friday.

Chasing a mammoth target of 236, SRH started off brilliantly, scoring 64 in 5.2 overs before Jason Roy got out on 34. Hyderabad ended up scoring 70 at the end of the powerplay. MI lost their spot in the playoffs as soon as SRH scored 65 runs.

However, the target for Hyderabad was still far as they continued to attack the MI bowlers but found the fielders regularly. Stand-by captain Manish Pandey, making a comeback into the playing XI, stood till the end and made sure SRH fought till the end as smashed 69 from 41 balls with the help of seven fours and two sixes. With no support from the other end, Hyderabad fell short by 42 runs.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians won the toss and had no choice but to bat first to give themselves a chance in the playoffs. Ishan Kishan smashed the fastest IPL fifty inside the powerplay only as MI made 83/1 in the first six overs. There was no stopping the Mumbai batters as any batter who came to the crease attempted to hit a boundary from the very first ball.

Kishan smashed 84 from 32 balls with the help of 11 fours and four sixes. His innings was carry forward by Suryakumar Yadav, who helped MI finish above 230, as he smashed 82 from 40 balls. Yadav hit 13 fours and three sixes.

With this match, the league stage of IPL 2021 has come to an end. Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Kolkata Knight Riders have qualified for the IPL playoffs.
