"I think Mayank was brilliant. He is a great talent. I have been talking to him from the start of the IPL and he played really well in the last game. He played really well in this game too; he is maturing and I hope he plays for India soon,” Yuvraj was quoted as saying by iplt20.com on Thursday.

Mayank blasted his way to 68 runs from 48 balls, helping his side beat Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by five wickets in an Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter here at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium on Wednesday night.

Yuvraj too was impressive, hitting three sixes and five fours en route to a knock of 54 runs.

Mayank, who was adjudged the Man-of-the-Match for his knock, said: “Initially the plan was to try and keep wickets in hand. I got a few loose deliveries initially and I got a few of my strokes going; so I attacked initially."

"But then because we lost Shreyas Iyer and J.P. Duminy, we needed to consolidate and get a partnership going. The whole idea was to get partnerships together and once we got a good partnership and a good base, then we could launch from there.”
