Melbourne, Dec 28 (CRICKETNMORE): Virat Kohli's fifty guide India to reach 224 for three at lunch in their first innings on day three of the third Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground here Sunday.

77 runs partnership between Kohli (60*) and Rahane (43) helped to stabilise India's innings after losing two unbeaten overnight batsman within the first hour of the play.

India still trail by 306 runs at lunch.

Earlier, Cheteshwar Pujara failed to click once again and was dismissed for the overnight score of 25 on the second ball of the day by pacer Ryan Harris, caught brilliantly by a diving Brad Haddin. Next to go was Vijay for 68.
