Melbourne, Nov 29 (IANS) Cricket Australia (CA) Saturday announced that the first cricket Test match between Australia and India will not start Thursday, Dec 4, as scheduled.

Details about the Test match are still to be determined.

"These are extraordinary circumstances and we simply couldn’t or wouldn’t expect our players to be emotionally ready to start a Test match the day after farewelling one of their teammates," CA Chief Executive James Sutherland said in a statement.

Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes passed away Thursday in a Sydney hospital after being hit on the head by a bouncer in a domestic game.
