Nov.9 (CRICKETNMORE) - Former Test stars David Gower of England, Farokh Engineer of India and Pakistan’s Mushtaq Mohammad have proposed to the cricket administrators to consider making Test match cricket free-entry for spectators, which will increase crowd numbers and also rejuvenate the traditional format of the sport.

In a function held in London, Gower said: “Test cricket has immense challenges to overcome. You’ve got to go to market forces and if need be just open the gates. Because where is the money coming from? The money is coming from television.”
Engineer said: “Open the gates, yes of course. But with due respect, are TV going to pay that kind of money if England play Nepal?”
Mushtaq opined. “If you want Test cricket to survive, you’ve got to reduce the entrance fees. Why not make it affordable.”
