Kolkata, April 12 (IANS) Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Gautam Gambhir on Saturday rued dropping Royal Challengers Bangalore opener Chris Gayle twice saying "If you keep dropping catches, someone like Chris will hurt you."

On both occasions the culprit was South African fast-bowler Morne Morkel who first dropped the left-hander on 33 and then again on 63. Gayle went onto score 96 from 56 balls helping his side register a three wicket win at the Eden Gardens.

"He (Gayle) was also lucky on a number of occasions. Sometimes he mishit the ball and it didn't go into someone's hands," Gambhir said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Crediting the bowlers for their efforts the skipper said,"The bowlers tried their best, but we still lost."

Gambhir top scored for his side with 58 but said what mattered to him is his team's points and not his personal milestones.

"It doesn't matter that how many runs I score or the team scores. At the end of the day, the team points matter and not individual scores," he said.
