Chennai, Feb 28 (IANS) Sports channel ESPN Saturday bagged the media rights of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the United States region for three years, starting 2015.

The rights were awarded for a total fee of $12.4 million at the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Marketing Committee meeting here. Two other bids were received from Willow and Times Internet.

“We are delighted to have entered into a strategic partnership with one of the leading platforms of global sport ESPN which will deliver the widest possible reach ever for the IPL in the United States,” BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel said.
