KAR vs ISL: Colin Munro and Azam Khan displayed thunderous batting as Islamabad United managed to beat Karachi Kings by 4 wickets in the 4th match of Pakistan Super League 2023. Islamabad have registered a win in their first game of PSL 8 while Karachi are still looking for their first win of the season after playing 2 games. 

Chasing 174 runs to win, Islamabad United got off to a bad start, losing both openers for just 21 runs in 4.1 overs. Hassan Nawaz (70 was dismissed by Mohammad Amir in the 2nd over while Muhammad Musa got rid of Paul Stirling (4) in the 5th over. However, South African Rassie van der Dussen came down to the middle and showed his grit. 

Along with Munrio, the duo added 59 runs for the 3rd wicket before captain Imad Wasim struck to remove van der Dussen (31 runs off 25 balls). Munro was then joined by explosive batter Azam Khan, who smashed 44 runs off 28 balls with 6 fours & a six. 

Colin Munro smashed 58 runs off 28 balls with 5 fours & 4 sixes before an unfortunate run out sent him back to the dugout. However, the batters had already did their job till then as Islamabad reached 178/6 in 18.2 overs, winning by 4 wickets with 10 balls remaining. For Karachi, Amir and Musa picked up 2 wickets each while Imad Wasim managed 1 wicket. 

In the first innings, with James Vince failing to fire, Haider Ali, stepped up with a fifty and helped Karachi Kings to 171/7 against Islamabad United in the 4th match of Pakistan Super League 2023. 

While James Vince perished in the very first over for just 4 runs, Sharjeel Khan gained form as he and Haider Ali etched a partnership of 77 runs for the 2nd wicket. The partnership was broken by Tom Currant in the 11th over as Sharjeel departed after scoring 34 runs in 26 balls. 

However, Haider Ali went on to complete his fifty and scored 59 runs in 45 balls (4x7,6x2) and was finally dismissed by Faheem Ashraf in the 15th over. In the end, Irfan Khan scored 19 runs with two sixes while Shoaib Malik scored 18 runs in 10 balls with 2 fours & a six. 

For Islamabad United, Mohammad Wasim Jr., Tom Curran and Rumman Raaes grabbed 2 wickets each while Faheem Ashraf managed 1 wicket to his name. 

Earlier, Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan won the toss & opted to bowl first against Karachi Kings in the 4th match of PSL 8. This match is being played at National Stadium, Karachi.
