Mumbai, July 14 (CNMSPORTS): Former India skipper Dilip Vengsarkar and IPL governing council chairman Rajeev Shukla were cleared of conflict of interest by the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) ombudsman on Thursday while ex-national team batsman Praveen Amre and former Karnataka spinner Raghuram Bhat were found to be guilty of similar charges.

Former Mumbai batsman Amre, who is a member of the Mumbai Cricket Association's managing committee and is also a part of the coaching staff of the junior team of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Daredevils, was accused of conflict of interest in a complaint lodged with the ombudsman.

The BCCI's ombudsman Justice (Retired) A.P. Shah had earlier said that Amre was not involved in any conflict of interest.

According to the BCCI's official website, Justice Shah eventually found that there was a conflict of interest in Amre's case as the BCCI's rules stated that an administrator or a member of the managing committee of any units of BCCI shall not be involved in any IPL franchise.

"Amre should not have taken any position in the coaching staff of an IPL franchise, while being an administrator," Justice Shah said in his order.

"The BCCI is also directed to write to all the IPL franchises to clarify Rule 1 (A)(B) of the Rules on Conflict of Interest that the franchises cannot employ any Administrator (as defined in the Rules) as part of its support staff," the Ombudsman had written in the July 6 order.

Justice Shah has also instructed BCCI to take necessary action against Amre.
