Josh Ingis' 58 helped Perth Scorchers score a competitive total of 179/8 against Hobart Hurricanes in the first innings.

Opting to bat first, Scorchers lost Jason Roy(20) in the third over after he gave a tremendous start to the innings. Perth scored 35 runs in the powerplay.

Liam Livingstone got a good start but failed to convert it into a big one as he got out on 26. Josh Inglis looked comfortable while at the crease and scored a fluent 58 off 35 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes. 

The lower middle-order took the team past the 170 run mark with brief contributions from each batsman. Jhye Richardson gave a good finish with his 14-ball-29, which included three fours and two sixes. 

For Hurricanes, Nathan Ellis took four wickets in his four overs while conceding 34 runs.
