The 24-year-old has looked quite comfortable in the short international career so far, and has featured in One-Day Internationals and Twenty20s.

He has got 12 international scalps from 10 games and was Australia’s main bowling weapon in the World T20.

“If I keep improving the way I think I've been improving, it's definitely something that I think is on the cards (Test matches)," Zampa was quoted as saying by a sports website on Friday.

"Nathan (Lyon) is doing a great job at the moment and I'm very happy where I am playing Twenty20 cricket and one-day cricket. I just want to keep improving and hopefully if that opportunity does arrive, I'll definitely be ready for it."

Zamap also believes the lack of Sheffield Shield games is reducing his chances to get into the Test scene.

"I think I've only played about five Shield games in the past 12 months or so. So it is frustrating only because I really enjoy that format. I love playing for South Australia and Adelaide Oval is a great place to play, so all those things added up means it is frustrating,” he said.

"But in terms of making it to the next level in that format, I want to keep improving my bowling.”
