Kolkata, Dec 22 (IANS) ISL champions Atletico de Kolkata will set up a football academy in West Bengal soon, its co-owner Sanjiv Goenka said here Monday.

The Indian Super League franchisee has primarily identified four-five plots of land for the academy, he said.

"However, we are yet to zero in on any particular plot for the academy," said Goenka after meeting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the secretariat "Nabanna".

A comprehensive plan regarding the academy would be drawn up once the lot was finalised and the academy located there.

"ISL will help in developing soccer, which is already a major sports, in India. In Wes Bengal, soccer is very popular. ISL will add to the popularities," he said.

ATK won the inaugural ISL Dec 20 by defeating Kerala Blasters 1-0 in the final.
