London, Jan 20 (IANS) The cricket career of England wicketkeeper Craig Kieswetter could well be over as the 27-year-old is still complaining of impaired vision, following an accident while playing in July 2014.

Kieswetter broke his nose and damaged his eye socket after a ball went through the grille of his helmet in a county match. He will travel to Belgium later this week for further assessment, reports Cricket Australia.

Somerset’s director of cricket Matthew Maynard fears that the injury could end his cricketing career.

"We're hoping that after he sees the specialist he'll have a method of getting his eye back to 100 percent. The feedback we get from that will be quite instrumental but potentially it could be career-ending," said Maynard.

Kieswetter has scored 1,046 runs for England in 46 One-Day Internationals.
