Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets in the 56th match of IPL 2021. Glenn Maxwell and KS Bharat contributed significantly to their team's victory by scoring superb fifties for RCB. However, in a way, Delhi gifted this match to RCB.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Delhi dominated the match for most of the time but the dropped catches by Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin overshadowed their team's valiant efforts and Capitals suffered a seven-wicket defeat. Iyer and Ashwin gifted the match to RCB by dropping two catches from Maxwell in the same over.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
This incident happened in the last over of Axar Patel and in the 14th over of RCB's innings when Maxwell hit the ball in the air, trying to hit a big shot on the first ball of the over and Shreyas Iyer, standing at deep midwicket, dropped a simple catch.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
After this, R Ashwin, fielding at short third man on the last ball of the same over, left a simple catch and rubbed salt on Delhi's wounds. Even if a single catch of Maxwell had been held on to, then perhaps Delhi could have easily won this match, but dropping Maxwell's catch proved disastrous for them.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
