    "editor1": "<p>Arjuna Ranatunga was born on December 1, 1963 at Gampaha, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) in political family.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Arjuna Ranatunga is the son of Reggie, a well-known politician in Sri Lanka. Ranatunga senior was a part of Sri Lanka Freedom Party and took on numerous political responsibilities in his life.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>His brothers, Dammika, Nishantha and Sanjeeva have played international cricket for Sri Lanka. Arjuna Ranatunga&rsquo;s son also represented Tamil Union in few unofficial matches in 2010.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>At the age of 18, Ranatunga played Sri Lanka&rsquo;s inaugural Test match in Colombo. He scored 54 and thus became the first Sri Lankan to score a fifty in a Test match.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>In June 2000, Ranatunga became the first cricketer to play in their country&rsquo;s first and hundredth Test match.&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>He was the captain of Sri Lanka, when the team won 1996 World Cup. As a batsman, He scored 241 runs in the tournament ending with the highest average (120) in the World Cup<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>ODI Captaincy Record: 193 matches, 89 wins, 95 losses, 1 tie, 8 no result<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Test Captaincy Record: 56 matches, 12 wins, 19 losses, 25 draws.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Arjuna Ranatunga scored 5105 runs at an average of 35.69 in 93 test matches. He also took 16 wickets<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>He scored 7456 runs at an average of 35.84 in 269 ODI matches. He also took 79 wickets.<\/p>\r\n",
