New Delhi, May 25 (CRICKETNMORE): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited applications for the national team coach's post.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The term of present India coach Anil Kumble will come to an end on June 18.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
"The BCCI would like to call upon interested candidates to apply for the position of 'Head Coach' for Indian cricket team (Men)," BCCI Acting Secretary Amitabh Chaudhary said in a statement on Thursday.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
"The process has been initiated since the term of the current coach Anil Kumble concludes with the Champions Trophy. Present head coach Anil Kumble will be a direct entry for the process," he said.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The three-member Cricket Advisory Committee of the BCCI comprising former India stars Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and V.V.S. Laxman will interview the interested candidates and and assess their presentations.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The entire process will be overseen by a nominee of the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA).<\/p>\r\n\r\n
"Interested candidates should send their applications by e-mail on or before the May 31," the statement added.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Kumble succeeded Ravi Shastri as India team coach and guided the squad to a successful home season which included a total of 13 Tests against Austrlia, England, New Zealand and Bangladesh. <\/p>\r\n\r\n
According to media reports, however, Kumble has fallen foul of BCCI officials over several issues.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The former leg-spinner had spoken out in favour of India's participation in the Champions Trophy although several BCCI officials were mulling a boycott of the tournament due to a dispute over revenue sharing with the International Cricket Committee (ICC).<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Some BCCI officials also feel that Kumble is urging the players to demand a raise in their fees. <\/p>\r\n\r\n
Kumble has reportedly demanded a hike of Rs 1 crore over his current annual contract of Rs 6.5 crore.
