The final stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Sub-Regional Qualifiers gets underway in Finland this week, with 10 nations set to compete from 14–21 August for a place in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier in 2027.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The teams will be split into two groups, with the group winners progressing to the Final. The eventual champion will secure the final available place at the Europe Qualifier next year and a shot at reaching the Global Qualifier for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028 in Australia and New Zealand.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Hosts Finland will be joined in Group 1 alongside Bulgaria, Isle of Man, Luxembourg and Spain. Group 2 consists of Czechia, Germany, Greece, Israel and Portugal.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Finland ready for landmark, localised tournament<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n For Finland, who first hosted an ICC Sub-Regional Qualifier in 2022, the tournament represents a major opportunity to showcase the growth of cricket in the country and welcome some of Europe’s leading emerging cricket nations.<\/p>\r\n\r\n Those ambitions have been bolstered by the ICC providing Finnish commentary for each of Finland's matches, and for the very first time, on ICC.tv and YLE Areena, the online streaming and catch-up service of the Finnish Public Broadcaster. Those and all other matches from the tournament will be streamed live globally on ICC.tv.<\/p>\r\n\r\n It makes Finnish the 10th commentary language added to the ICC portfolio, further strengthening the ICC’s growing localisation strategy that is making cricket more accessible for fans around the world.<\/p>\r\n\r\n On the pitch, both local and international eyes will be drawn to Moises Henriques’ first outing as Portugal captain, with the 39-year-old former Australia international set to debut for the country of his birth.<\/p>\r\n\r\n One last chance to progress<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n The Finland tournament completes a summer of Sub-Regional Qualifiers across Europe, following events in Cyprus in May and Denmark in July.<\/p>\r\n\r\n Jersey secured the first qualification place after winning Sub-Regional Qualifier A in Cyprus, while Denmark claimed the second spot by winning Sub-Regional Qualifier B on home soil.<\/p>\r\n\r\n The winner in Finland will compete at next year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier, with Scotland entering directly in recognition of the exceptional circumstances surrounding their participation in the 2026 tournament.
