England have been fined 10 per cent of their match fee and penalised two ICC World Test Championship points for maintaining a slow over-rate against India in the third Test at Lord\u2019s. The hosts were ruled to be two overs short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
In addition, as per Article 16.11.2 of the ICC World Test Championship playing conditions, a side is penalised one point for each over short. Consequently, two World Test Championship points have been deducted from England\u2019s points total.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
As a result, England has slipped from second to third position in the WTC points table, with Sri Lanka now overtaking them to claim the second spot, and be just behind table toppers Australia.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
However, former India head coach Ravi Shastri said the Ben Stokes-led side can make up for their points deduction if their focus remains on winning matches.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
As a result, England has slipped from second to third position in the WTC points table, with Sri Lanka now overtaking them to claim the second spot, and be just behind table toppers Australia.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
England are 2-1 up in the ongoing five-match series, after clinching a nail-biter at Lord's. The two teams will next square up in the fourth Test starting July 23 at Old Trafford in Manchester.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
