While Hussain admitted that Gill\u2019s captaincy lacked assertiveness, he also acknowledged that the 24-year-old wasn\u2019t solely to blame. \u201cIndia lost the match because of two things Gill couldn\u2019t control \u2014 dropped catches and batting collapses,\u201d he said, pointing to the team\u2019s fielding woes and repeated middle-order meltdowns.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

India\u2019s bowling resources were also stretched. Jasprit Bumrah, who took a five-for in the first innings, is managing his workload and is expected to feature in only three of the five Tests due to a recent back injury.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
