The three ODIs and as many T20Is marks the first-ever women\u2019s bilateral series between West Indies and Bangladesh, and is also Bangladesh\u2019s first tour of the Caribbean for a series. The two teams last met in the group stage of the 2024 ICC Women\u2019s T20 World Cup 2024 in the UAE on October 10, where West Indies beat Bangladesh by eight wickets at Sharjah.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Their last ODI meeting took place nearly three years ago in New Zealand on March 18, 2022, with West Indies winning by four runs. Overall, the two teams have met five times in international competition\u2014four times in T20Is and once in an ODI\u2014and West Indies are yet to taste defeat.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
West Indies are currently at ninth place in the ICC Women\u2019s Championship and need to get in the top six for automatic qualification.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
That is mathematically impossible for the West Indies as New Zealand are in sixth place with 21 points and the hosts\u2019 can only finish with a maximum of 20 points if they win all three ODIs against Bangladesh. As it stands, West Indies could go to the qualifiers later this year with Ireland, Pakistan and another team which could be Bangladesh or New Zealand.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
