    "editor1": "<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:trebuchet ms,helvetica,sans-serif\">Melbourne, May 2 (IANS) Cricket Australia (CA) chairman Wally Edwards Friday announced that David Peever has been elected its deputy chairman.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:trebuchet ms,helvetica,sans-serif\">Peever, 56, was appointed as an independent CA director in October 2012 as part of broad governance changes to Australian cricket. He currently sits on the CA Remuneration Committee.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:trebuchet ms,helvetica,sans-serif\">Speaking at CA&rsquo;s board meeting, Edwards said the appointment was a tremendous boost for Australian cricket.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:trebuchet ms,helvetica,sans-serif\">&ldquo;David Peever is a great leader and will bring outstanding business acumen to the role combined with a deep passion for the game,&rdquo; Edwards said.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:trebuchet ms,helvetica,sans-serif\">&ldquo;Over the next year-and-a-half I will work closely with David at a national and international level to ensure a smooth handover of the chairman&rsquo;s role when my tenure finishes in October 2015.&rdquo;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:trebuchet ms,helvetica,sans-serif\">Peever is a non-executive director of the Melbourne Business School, a director of the Business Council of Australia, a member of the Prime Minister&rsquo;s Indigenous Advisory Council and the Department of Defence Gender Equality Advisory Board.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:trebuchet ms,helvetica,sans-serif\">He said he had great pride in taking on the role.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:trebuchet ms,helvetica,sans-serif\">&ldquo;It&rsquo;s a key time for Australian cricket. A lot of significant change has occurred for the better on and off the field. I&rsquo;m looking forward to working with the chairman, the board and the executive team to continue that process,&rdquo; Peever said.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:trebuchet ms,helvetica,sans-serif\">Peever graduated from James Cook University with an economics degree and later completed a Masters of Science in Mineral Economics from Macquarie University.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:trebuchet ms,helvetica,sans-serif\">He has served on the executive committee of the Queensland Cricket Association.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n",
