# Sunil Manohar Gavaskar was born on 10th July 1949 in Mumbai.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

# An interesting incident was associated with his birth. When he was born, the nurse in the hospital mistakenly swapped him on the bed and handed over a wrong child to Gavaskar's Mother. But his Uncle noticed earlier that Sunil Gavaskar was born with a small hole on his ear and searched all the child in the hospital and than finally found him behind a Fisher Women who have just given a birth to a child. Thanks to his uncle who noticed him and otherwise may be he would have been a Fishermen.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

# Gavaskar is the only batsman in the world cricket to score Double Hundred in the 1st, 2nd,3rd and 4th innings of Test Matches.<\/span><\/div>\r\n\r\n

# Sunil also done the job of match referee in 1 Test and 5 ODI before becoming a Commentary.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

# Sunil Gavaskar played the lead role in a Marathi movie ‘Savli Premachi’<\/strong>. He also did a cameo in a Hindi movie ‘Maalamal’.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

# He also lent his voice for a popular Marathi song, ‘Yaduniye madhye thambaila vel konala’.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

# In 1975, he was appreciated with the Arjuna Award for cricket<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

# In 1980, he was awarded with the Padma Bhushan<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

# In 2012, Sunil Gavaskar was honoured with Col C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

# His childhood fascination was to become a wrestler. In fact, he was a huge fan of wrestler Maruti Vadar. He even used to carry Vadar’s luggage.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

# In 1980, he played one season of English county cricket for Somerset in which he scored 686 runs at an average of 34.30. This includes two hundreds.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

# He was such a huge fan of West Indian cricketer Rohan Kanhai that he named his only child Rohan Gavaskar after him.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

# He was the first Indian player to take 100 catches in test matches.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

# He scored 10122 runs in test cricket at an average of 51.12 with 34 centuries and 45 half centuries. He also scored 3092 ODI runs at an average of 35.13 with 1 century and 27 half centuries. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n
