After conceding a loss in the first test, the Sri Lankan team bounced back in the 2nd test as they thrashed Pakistan by 246 runs, levelling the 2-match series 1-1. All-rounder Dhananjaya de Silva was adjudged the player of the match for his ton in the third innings which set up a mammoth chase for Pakistan.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
After opting to bat first, Sri Lanka posted 378\/10 in the first innings with Dinesh Chandimal (80) being the top scorer. Niroshan Dickwella (51) and Oshawa Fernando (50) also contributed with fifties to help Lanka to a good total. In reply, Pakistan were bowled out for 231 courtesy of a 5-fer by Lankan spinner Ramesh Mendis. <\/p>\r\n\r\n
Coming out to bat again, the Sri Lankan innings was carried by Dhananjaya de Silva (109) and captain Dimuth Karunaratne (61) as they declared their second innings on 360\/8. Sri Lankan bowlers then made an easy job out of the target, bowling out Pakistan for 261\/10 with Prabath Jayasuriya's 5-fer and 4 wickets from Ramesh Mendis, as Sri Lanka won the match and drew the 2-match test series. <\/p>\r\n\r\n
With this win, Sri Lanka have risen above India and Pakistan, and are now placed third on the WTC Points Table with 5 wins, 4 losses and a draw, with a PCT of 53.33. Pakistan on the other hand, have slipped from the 3rd spot to the 5th with 4 wins, 3 losses and 2 drawn matches with a PCT of 51.85. Pakistan have now slipped behind India on the updated WTC Points Table. <\/p>\r\n\r\n
South Africa are still at the top of the WTC Points Table with a PCT of 71.43. Australia are placed second with a PCT of 70.00. While in the lower half, Pakistan is followed by West Indies, England, New Zealand and Bangladesh. <\/p>\r\n\r\n
